As the Yankees attempt to re-sign Juan Soto, the team is also looking at other ways to improve this offseason, including potentially adding a better starter to the mix.
According to Jon Heyman of the Postthe Yankees are “in everyone’s game”, including Blake Snell, Corbin Burnes And Max Fritwith the best free agent relievers.
How seriously the Yankees pursue Snell and Burnes will depend on their ability to get Soto back. If Soto goes elsewhere, the Yankees will have more money to spend on other pieces and will likely push harder for these high-flying weapons.
The Yankees were linked to Snell last offseason but could not come to terms on a contract. New York turned to Marcus Stroman and Snell ultimately signed with the San Francisco Giants in mid-March.
The report also states that the Yankees like Alex Bregman And Willy Adamès third, but are not opposed to returning Gleyber Torres for second base. They’re letting the infielder “look around” but could consider him later depending on what Torres finds in free agency.

The Yankees are interested in the right-hander Carlos Estévezaccording to Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
Morosi noted earlier this week that New York has been one of the most aggressive teams in talking with representatives of many free agent relievers during general managers’ meetings — and now Estevez is the first name to be revealed.
It’s certainly not surprising that the defending American League champions are considering adding relievers early on because they could lose. Holmes Clay, Tommy KahnleAnd Tim Hill to free agency this offseason.
Estevez is one of the best arms available and he would certainly be an interesting addition after another strong season in which he pitched to a 2.45 ERA and 0.90 WHIP while closing out 26 games with the Angels of Los Angeles and the Philadelphia Phillies.
