Oct. 13—OAKLAND — No. 5 Allegany rushed for nearly 500 yards to defeat Southern, 51-14, Friday for its second victory in three games.
Allegany (2-4) led 20-0 after the first quarter, 20-7 at halftime and 34-7 after three periods.
The Campers totaled 481 yards on 52 carries, had a 24-7 advantage in first downs, a 476-99 advantage overall and didn’t punt once.
Allegany rushed for three touchdowns in the first quarter: Sebastian Stewart on a five-yard rush (7:14), Jackson Resh on a 44-yard burst (5:24) and Kane Williams on a nine-yard tote (1: 24).
Williams’ touchdown was set up by a fumble recovery by Amanni Blowe.
The Campers botched their first PAT, missed a two-point try after its second score and Khiante Bible chipped in on the two-point try on its third.
Southern (2-4) got on the scoreboard when Jacob Brown connected with Joel Campbell for a five-yard touchdown pass with 2:37 left in the half to lead 20-7.
Resh caught his second touchdown on a 16-yard run with 6:30 left in the third quarter, and Williams found his second, also from 16 yards out, with 50 seconds left before the fourth.
Allegany missed the first two-point try of the second half and Bible ran in the second.
After Southern’s Ty Getson ran for a four-yard score followed by Ben Lohr’s second PAT with 11:12 left in the fourth, Bible scored his first touchdown from five yards out with 8:33 left. Resh performed the conversion.
Allegany then forced a Suder safety, and the Campers’ DJ Riley capped the scoring with a nine-yard run with a minute to play. Trevin Cox made the PAT.
Ryan Ferguson intercepted an Allegany pass to lead the South defense.
Next week, Allegany is at No. 4 Keyser (3-3) and Southern is at Tucker County (6-0).
North 58, Uniontown 6
ACCIDENT — Northern exploded for 37 points in the first quarter and led 51-0 at halftime to rebound in a big way at home against Uniontown on Friday.
Liam Stewart scored two touchdowns and ran for another, Robert Deatelhauser intercepted a 15-yard pass for a score, Hunter Livengood had a scoop and a five-yard score, and Luke Ross ran for a score, scoring caught one in the air and returned a kick 78 yards for a touchdown.
“Good rebound for us,” North head coach Phil Carr said. “Our defense played great as a unit, scoring two touchdowns early in the game and giving us great field position all night. It’s always nice to win your homecoming game.”
Northern (3-3) had the edge in total yards (264-105), rushing yards (238-105), first downs (10-4) and takeaways (4-0).
Caleb Hinebaugh had a 33-yard rushing touchdown, Stewart completed a 23-yard score to Ross and he ran for a 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter.
Stewart added a 1-yard touchdown run in the second half, and Ross had a 14-yard run for a score before halftime.
Ross’ long return for a touchdown pushed Northern’s lead to 58-0.
Brands was 3 of 4 on PATs, Evan Graham ran for two 2-point conversions and Stewart ran for another.
David Ranitu rushed for a five-yard touchdown for Uniontown’s only touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Northern hosts No. 3 Mountain Ridge (3-3) on Friday.
John Marshall 42 years old, Keyser 21 years old
MOUNDSVILLE, W.Va. – John Marshall jumped out to a 20-0 lead and scored the final two touchdowns of the game to end Keyser’s three-game winning streak Friday.
Grayson Lambka and Tristen Root rushed for touchdowns in the second quarter to cut Keyser’s deficit to 20-14.
Trailing 28-14 at halftime, Keyser pulled within a touchdown again on another rushing score by Root. Kicker Tommy Nash made his third PAT of the game and is 23 for 23 this year.
Maverick LeMasters responded with his fourth touchdown, and John Marshall added another to bring Keyser within 3-3.
Root totaled 119 yards on 17 carries, and Jake Anderson stood out defensively with 19 tackles and a fumble recovery. Lambka also recovered a fumble.
Keyser hosts Allegany on Friday.
