THE Freedom of New York have reached the WNBA Finals again and are now awaiting the outcome of the final semifinal game between Connecticut Sun Or Minnesota Lynxwho will determine their challenger.
Looking to win its first WNBA championship, New York advanced to the Finals for the second straight year after defeating the Las Vegas Aces. 76-62 Sunday to win the semifinal series 3-1. Sabrina Ionescu led the way for Liberty and is averaging 20.7 points, 5.2 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game in the playoffs. New York has reached six WNBA Finals – including last season when the Liberty fell to the Aces – but has yet to win a title.
In the other WNBA semifinal, the Lynx and Sun will face off in Game 5 with the series tied 2-2. The Sun has won Game 1while the Lynx claimed Game 2 And 3 to take a 2-1 series lead. But the Sun fought back on Sunday to win Game 492-82, to extend the series. The star player of this series is the MVP runner-up; that of Minnesota Napheesa Collier was outstanding in the playoffs, averaging 27.2 points and 9.3 rebounds over six games.
