Jake Ferguson throws his hat in the ring for general TE1 status, Tucker Kraft replaces Mike Gesicki like “why not?” » TE1 of the day, and Kyle Pitts wonders if his moment of relevance is over.

TE Notes: Even with the 49ers skill corps finally approaching full strength (sans CMC), George Kittle This seems like the best bet for TE1 status by default at the moment. Its 2024 floor went well. Everyone knows the ceiling. The Cardinals are a glorious Week 5 matchup. … Jake Ferguson is the rare draft tight plan for 2024 that will actually go as planned. The matchups shouldn’t matter much for the Cowboys’ No. 2 weapon. …The Cardinals are waiting Trey McBride back after a week’s absence due to a concussion. A struggling Kyler Murray seemed totally out of ideas without his seam safety valve. Despite his rib injury, 49ers LB Fred Warner is not an ideal Week 5 welcoming committee for McBride. …Rashee Rice was injured and Travis Kelce instantly had usable effort. Overdue for a positive regression in touchdowns, Kelce could soon find himself back in his traditional first place. … Dalton Kincaid still doesn’t run enough routes, but he still commands targets while doing so. Let’s hope the Texans/Bills really do well.

Pat Freiermuth didn’t really have a good match. He didn’t really have a bad one either. Obviously, that’s enough to make you a safe midrange TE1 these days. … David Njoku (ankle) is training. If he returns from his three-game absence, it will be as a desperately needed No. 2 weapon for the Browns against a super shifty Commanders defense, even if it has limited tight end production so far against a limp roster of enemy sewing stretchers. … Evan Engram (hamstring) is also fighting his way back from his three-game sabbatical. If he succeeds, the Colts have been a land of opportunity for rival pass catchers. … Brock Bowers predictably slumps after proving he should be a defensive focal point. Even with Davante Adams staging a hold of sorts over the course of the season, Bowers’ Week 5 targets prospects aren’t surprising since the Broncos plan to destroy the Raiders’ entire passing game operation. … Dalton Schultz is a poor man’s Pat Freiermuth in that he does at least no harm. As for his fantastic good works? He’ll get back to you on that.

I decided to panic a little more than expected with Mark Andrews. With so many tight ends struggling, it’s tempting to fall back on the fundamentals, one of which is this: Andrews has been good for a long time. But Andrews had trouble even getting on the field for the Ravens’ most important Week 4 snaps. I am holding Andrews has at least a week left, but he’s looking for starting alternatives against the Bengals. This should at least be a high scoring affair where the Ravens need to pass. …We can’t wait to come back Tucker Kraft in the TE1 ranks after Jordan Love immediately reignited his fantasy relevance. How much of that was due to the 28-0 comeback game script is a good question. It’s also fair to focus on Kraft being one of the tight ends to have a good game any circumstance this season. …Compared to the rest of the industry, I’ve never really been a Kyle Pitts amplifier. But even I have to stop pretending it’s relevant at all right away. The guy is losing target fights to Darnell Mooney and Ray-Ray McCloud and doesn’t even look fast anymore. … Cade Otton is tied for fourth in tight ends at 21 (lol).
