Tampa Bay Lightning defensemen Tobie Paquette-Bisson and Derrick Pouliot have been granted waivers and will be assigned to the Syracuse Crunch, it was announced Tuesday.

Paquette-Bisson and Pouliot were placed on waivers Monday for assignment to the AHL.

Originally from Rosemère, Quebec, Paquette-Bisson spent last season playing for the Laval Rocket where he recorded nine goals and 18 assists for 27 points in 69 regular season games. Despite never seeing an NHL game, Paquette-Bisson had 69 points in 214 AHL regular season games.

Drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the 2012 NHL Draft, Pouliot spent the 2023-2024 season splitting time between the Dallas Stars and the Texas Stars. In five games with Dallas, he remained useless. With Texas, Pouliot scored nine goals and added 37 assists for 46 points in 64 regular season games.

With both defensemen putting up good numbers at the AHL level, it’s likely the Crunch will rely heavily on both throughout the regular season. Additionally, if the Lightning are bitten by the injury bug, both could be solid options to play deep minutes.
