KANSAS CITY, Kan. — NASCAR storms into Kansas Speedway this weekend with a tough race to follow.

This is the second stock car race this season at the track, as the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs are in full swing. This weekend, there are just seven races left before a champion is crowned.

May 5 was the final Cup Series race at the midway track. Fans in the stands witnessed the closest finish in NASCAR history. Kyle Larson edged Chris Buescher to win by about an inch. Kansas Speedway will have a hard time matching that memorable moment.

“Now you can come to the closest finish in the history of our sport,” said Patrick Warren, Kansas Speedway president since 2010.

Warren knows race fans will be flocking to KCK this weekend from all over. Tickets are still available for two races Friday night, the Xfinity Series Kansas Lottery 300 Saturday afternoon and the NASCAR Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400 Sunday. Warren said some tickets are as low as $49, and on Friday and Saturday nights, kids 12 and under get in free.

Here is the complete list of races this weekend:

FRIDAY — ARCA Menards Series Reese’s 150 at 4:30 p.m. followed by NASCAR Craftsman Trucks Kubota Tractor 200 at 7:30 p.m.

SATURDAY — NASCAR Xfinity Series Kansas Lottery 300 at 2:30 p.m.

SUNDAY — NASCAR Cup Series Hollywood Casino 400 at 2 p.m.

Parking is free on the track’s lawns, and rideshare services will take fans directly to the grandstand gates. Camping is available nearby for less than $200 for the weekend. The track offers food options, and fans are allowed to bring small coolers with food and beer.

Chiefs elevate RB Kareem Hunt to 53-man roster

Warren said keeping racing at lower costs than other major league sports is a priority for NASCAR Chairman Jim France.

“Even with inflation and some of the things we’ve seen over the last few years, Jim has been adamant that we not raise our prices or keep price increases to a minimum,” Warren added.

Warren estimates that a family of four can attend this weekend’s races for less than $200 if they plan their budget carefully. Tickets are available here.
