Beginner Sharks center Macklin Celebrini received his rating for “NHL 25” and the An 18-year-old reacted humblyas one could probably guess.

Video game developer EA Sports shared a video on Sunday of Celebrini and Chicago Blackhawks star Connor Bedard see their grades for the first time.

And it’s safe to say San Jose fans will love to see how their franchise’s first overall pick in the 2024 NHL Entry Draft reacts.

“Somewhere in the 70s,” Celebrini modestly estimated before knowing his rating. Note: Bedard received an overall rating of 80 before his rookie campaign in 2023.

Then, Celebrini revealed his player rating.

“This year, my overall score is… 82,” Celebrini added happily.

It seems the Boston University product approves. Given that Celebrini didn’t think he’d be rated that high, the recruit was more than happy with a relatively high number.

“It’s much better than I thought,” Celebrini said. “So I’m happy. I hope I can improve this level a little bit in the coming years. But for now, as a beginner, I’m pretty happy.”

Celebrini’s rating is well deserved. He is simply unpretentious.

The South Bay native recorded 32 goals and 32 assists in his lone collegiate season. Additionally, Celebrini showed promise at Sharks training camp and during the NHL Rookie Faceoff.

Despite recently minimize its current and future impact In San Jose, the Jr. Sharks 14U alumnus is a big deal.

Last year, the Sharks were a league-worst 19-54 with 47 points. The addition of Celebrini should help San Jose on the ice, and his addition has already helped. attract veteran star Tyler Toffoli and further stabilize the organization’s youth foundation, including Will Smith and Thomas Bordeleau.

Celebrini deserves his player rating of 82.

And for those curious, Bédard climbed eight figures with a score of 88.
