Michigan State Spartans forward Coen Carr on the field during practice, Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023.

The Michigan State basketball team got a huge influx of athletes to the roster last year when they added a 4-star forward Coen Carr on the program. The front combo has some of the best jumps in the game of basketballfull stop, and many were looking forward to seeing him get a bigger role as he develops.

However, a short-lived Instagram post Thursday cast a little doubt, seemingly nowhere, on his future at MSU, and perhaps in the sport of basketball.

An Instagram story posted and then quickly deleted by Carr today has been making the rounds on social media, and it contained a very short and cryptic message:

“Think about stopping this every day.”

We’re not sure exactly what Carr was referring to here, though it seems to imply that he’s considering quitting basketball, or quitting basketball at MSU. But it’s important to keep in mind that these are very young men going to college, and it’s hard for us as outsiders to say exactly what he was thinking here.

Plus, playing college basketball is tough, especially during a Tom Izzo fall camp during the preseason week. It’s possible Carr just had an extremely tough practice and was frustrated, which is completely understandable.
