Christian McCaffrey‘s surprise inactive designation created a lot of noise after Jordan MasonComments following the 49ers win 32-19 during the New York Jets Monday at Levi’s Stadium. But it appears the NFL is not ready to hand out any discipline. for the mixture.

Mason made headlines with a 147 rushing yards, a career high In San FranciscoMcCaffrey’s win over New York, though his standout performance, was quickly overshadowed by a postgame interview with ESPN’s Lisa Salters where the third-year running back said he knew he would start long before McCaffrey was declared inactive for Monday’s game.
“When did I find out? Maybe Friday night, something like that,” Mason told Salters. “I was always ready, I mean we went to training camp, I was RB1 in training camp, so I just prepared from there.”
During Kyle Shanahan’s postgame press conference, 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said Mason wasn’t told he would start until Monday afternoon.
“I never told Jordan he was going to start,” Shanahan told reporters. “I told him he had to be ready on time, but maybe it was Bobby Turner, the 49ers running backs coach, or somebody trying to motivate him, but I knew he was going to have to play a lot. I told him it wasn’t going to be his usual, that he was going to be a No. 2 back who was going to have to play a lot. But no, he wasn’t sure he was going to do it until today.”
NFL rules require teams to provide “accurate” and “specific” information about injured players, which is made available to opponents as well as the media.
“The policy requires teams to provide credible, accurate and specific information about injured players to the league office, their opponents, local and national media and the league’s broadcast partners each week during the regular season and playoffs,” according to the NFL’s official operations website (h/t Sporting News).
So far, it appears the NFL has found no improprieties in the 49ers’ handling of their injury report ahead of Monday’s game against the Jets.
