Williams deal gives 49ers seven highest-paid players at their positions originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

THE 49ers There are an abundance of top players and none of them are cheap.

After accept a lucrative revised contract with an All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams this week, San Francisco now has seven players among the five highest paid at their respective positions in terms of average annual salary.

Purdy is surprisingly the 79th highest-paid quarterback, but that will likely change next offseason when he becomes eligible for a contract extension. Especially after Dallas Cowboys signalman Dak Prescott’s massive four-year, $240 million contract reset an already booming quarterback market.

Will the 49ers soon have eight of the highest-paid players at their positions, or will Purdy’s impending contract force San Francisco to move one or more of their top players?
