Team USA was pushed to the limit, but finished its exhibition game with a perfect 5-0 record after earning a 92-88 victory over Germany on Monday.

The two teams went back and forth, with Germany outscoring the Americans by 10 points in the third quarter to take a three-point lead going into the final quarter. But it was in the fourth quarter that LeBron James came out on top to give Team USA the win.

James did a little bit of everything for his team, finishing with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting to go along with six rebounds and four assists in 18 minutes of action.

4:56 p.m.: The LeBron James takeover has begun.

James scored 15 points, grabbed six rebounds and made four assists and did a little bit of everything for Team USA late in the game.

The United States leads by five points with three minutes left.

4:53 p.m.: Fasten your seatbelts.

Anthony Edwards splits a pair of free throws and Team USA trails by one with 4:23 remaining in regulation.

This could be a photo finish.

4:46 p.m.: These teams are going back and forth in the fourth period.

After an uncharacteristic missed free throw by Stephen Curry, things were tied before an acrobatic finish by Devin Booker put Team USA back in front.

End of the third quarter: Germany 71, USA 68

4:36 p.m.: After trailing by seven points at halftime, Germany outscored the U.S. 30-20 in the third quarter to take a three-point lead heading into the final quarter.

It was a team effort from Germany, who benefited from the play of Dennis Schröder, the shooting of Andreas Obst, the tenacity of the Wagner brothers and the interior presence of Daniel Theis.

Team USA has its back against the wall for the second game in a row. Do they have any more great exploits under their belt?

4:34 p.m.: Germany leads by five points with 1:02 remaining.

The American team has some areas for improvement, but Germany is taking full advantage of its mistakes.

4:30 p.m.: And it’s a 9-0 run for Germany.

The O2 Arena crowd loved what they saw and a three-pointer from Andreas Obst gave Germany the lead again.

There are 2:30 left in the third.

4:25 p.m.: After Germany regained the lead, Team USA responded with a quick 8-0 run in 48 seconds.

The Americans regained the lead with a seven-point lead with 5:37 left in the third quarter.

4:19 p.m.: A good half-time performance from Germany reduced the deficit to two points.

Steve Kerr calls an early timeout after Devin Booker draws a foul in transition. There is 7:41 left in the third period.

4:17 p.m.: Similar to the first half, the second half begins with a flurry of baskets.

After Stephen Curry opened the scoring for Team USA with a layup, Germany hits a 3-pointer, gets a save and scores another.

It’s a three-point game a minute into the second half.

3:54 p.m.: What a sequence for the American team.

The American team regained the lead with a nine-point lead and Germany called a timeout.

3:52 p.m.: A triple by Andreas Obst made it a one-possession game with 2:25 left in the half.

3:44 p.m.: Midway through the second quarter, the American team has a seven-point lead.

After it looked like the Americans were going to pull away, Germany responded by keeping the score in single digits for the second half.

There are 5:08 left in the first half.

3:35 p.m.: We have a review to do for an unsportsmanlike foul.

Moritz Wagner was elbowed by Anthony Davis. The referees went to the monitor to check the foul.

The American team leads by eight points less than two minutes into the second period.

3:28 p.m.: The American team has a 10-point lead after one quarter.

The Americans’ attack was balanced, with eight points from Jrue Holiday to their credit while Anthony Davis scored five points in four minutes of play.

For Germany, Dennis Schröder scored six points early in the game while Franz Wagner had four points on 2-of-6 shooting.

Team USA finished the first quarter with a 58.8% shooting percentage, while Germany was limited to 30.4% shooting.

3:23 p.m.: Anthony Davis’ one-and-one puts the Americans up 15-2, with an eight-point lead.

There is less than 1:30 left in the first quarter.

3:16 p.m.: Team USA takes a one-point lead into the first half. There are 4:12 left in the first quarter.

It was all Jrue Holiday’s doing from the start. He scored a game-high eight points on a perfect 3-of-3 shooting.

3:11 p.m.: Dennis Schröder rises for these big games.

The Nets point guard scored six points early in the game after hitting two three-pointers. Germany has a five-point lead.

The American team opened the scoring thanks to a superb pass from Joel Embiid who prepared an impressive reverse slam from LeBron James.

The U.S. national team was in Abu Dhabi for two exhibition games against Australia and Serbia. They are now in London for two exhibition games before finally heading to Paris for the Olympics.

When do the Olympic Games start?

The opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics will take place on July 26. The men’s basketball tournament will begin the following day, July 27, and conclude with the medal games on August 10.

The U.S. team is one of 12 teams that have qualified for the Paris Olympics. It will play in Group C with Serbia, South Sudan and Puerto Rico.
