WNBA Schedule Today: Why Fever, Sky and Other Games Start Early on ‘Camp Day’ Wednesday

The WNBA’s schedule has been the subject of much debate throughout the 2024 season. Much of that has to do with the Olympics, which have prompted the league to try to fit as many games as possible into its first half.

The league’s schedule is also filled with a number of other oddities, including a July 10 schedule that would leave the average American sports fan perplexed.

Most often, WNBA games are scheduled in the evening. Games typically start at 7:00 PM ET on the East Coast and 10:00 PM ET on the West Coast, perfect timeslots for many adults looking to show their support for this growing business.

On July 10, however, the league has another special feature: on that day, the W is aimed at a completely different clientele: children.

Here’s what you need to know about Wednesday’s schedule, where all five games will take place during the day.

WNBA Schedule Today

Wednesday July 10

Game Time (ET) TV/Live Streaming
Freedom in the sun 11am WNBA League Pass
Mystics at Fever 12:00 p.m. NBA Television, Sling
Dream against Sky 12:00 p.m. WNBA League Pass
Aces Against the Storm 3:00 p.m. WNBA League Pass
Wings vs. Mercury 3:30 p.m. WNBA League Pass

What is WNBA Camp Day? Why Fever, Sky, No More Play on Wednesday, July 10

The league’s schedule for Wednesday is not a typo.

Rather, it is a deliberate effort by the league’s franchises to capitalize on the fleeting joy of youth.

What would childhood be without summer camps? They are one of the most formative experiences in any young person’s life.

In recent years, the W has embraced the interest in summer camps, so much so that its franchises hold “camp days” during the regular season. These games offer campers discounted prices to attend competitions, with the organizations hoping to attract participation from local camps in a franchise’s respective community.

PSA and reminder, games that start at 11am or 12pm EST are CAMP DAY games for kids for the #wnba

It’s incredible #welcometoW A moment for them, at such a young age, to live the game, see the stars and cheer loudly. With Liberty, Fever and Sky in action, they WILL make some noise! https://t.co/cdLTdBiw1s pic.twitter.com/p4bt4V27Fh

Take the Sun-Liberty matchup, for example. A game between the league’s top two teams (Connecticut and New York, both 17-4) could cost an arm and a leg. But on Wednesday, prices should be pretty reasonable.

That’s the case across the league, with 10 of the WNBA’s 12 franchises preparing to face players. All plan to do so in arenas filled with screaming children. Each game will take place in the early afternoon, a convenient time slot for kids attending daytime summer camps.
