After four months of recovery from a left knee injury, Nikola Topic, a talented Serbian guard projected among the top picks in the next 2024 NBA Draftreturned to court with Red Star but was injured again early in the ABA League finals.
According to ESPN’s Jonathan GivonyFortunately, Topic avoided serious injury. The initial diagnosis revealed a sprained left knee, which he also injured in early 2024.
The injury likely rules him out of the remainder of the ABA Finals, but as noted, the 18-year-old point guard is expected to be a full participant in NBA pre-draft activities in June.
““Topic left Game 1 of the Adriatic League Finals with a non-contact left knee injury that caused him to miss 4 months of action in January. He is expected to participate in NBA Global Camp in Treviso on June 6, where he will complete a physical and an NBA Combine,” Givony wrote.
Red Star: Nikola Topic’s injury does not require surgery
Red Star announced that the talented point guard’s injury will not require surgery at this time, but that he will miss the next few games.
“Crvena Zvezda Meridianbet informs the public that after the first medical examinations it was determined that Nikola Topić’s injury currently does not require surgical intervention (surgery).
However, this type of injury requires a short period of rest, which means that our teammate will not be able to assist the team in the next matches.“
