Competition kicked off in the 2024 SLC Summer League as players faced off at altitude in Salt Lake City, with the hometown Jazz finishing off the action with an overtime victory. Here’s a look at the individual performances that impressed during Monday’s action:
Ricky IV Council, Philadelphia
With the 76ers and Thunder mired for three quarters, Ricky Council IV cleaned up the mess in the final frame, scoring 19 of his game-high 29 points on 6-of-9 shooting (5-of-6 from three-point range) as Philadelphia cruised to a clean sweep. After playing last season on a two-year deal, the 76ers converted that to a four-year deal late in the season. With a revamped roster in need of shooting and depth, Council, an Arkansas product, made a strong first impression this summer.
Zach Edey, Memphis
Frustrated after a dunk in the final moments of regulation, Edey rallied to send the game into overtime on a miraculous redirection of an intentionally missed free throw. With more balls available, the 2.23m rookie ultimately had 14 points, 15 rebounds and four blocks in 33 minutes. He shot 7 of 12 (all in the paint) and showed his size should allow him to make an impact from the point.

Keyonte George, Utah
The 2023 first-round pick was named to the All-Summer League first team a year ago in Las Vegas, and after proving himself in Utah, he picked up where he left off. George struggled with his shooting (5-of-21 FG) but crushed the Grizzlies inside, racking up an astonishing 17-of-19 from the free-throw line — including the game-winners to seal a game-ending victory at Elam in overtime. That 30-point performance went along with four rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes.
Adam Flagler, Oklahoma City
After spending his rookie season on a two-way contract with the Thunder, primarily in the G League, Flagler knew what time it was in Salt Lake City. Shooting 40.2 percent from three-point range in 30 games (18 starts) for the Oklahoma City Blue, the Baylor product got his shots early and often. He finished with a team-best 18 points on 6-of-15 shooting…14 attempts and all 6 from long range.
