MARCH Madness fans are complaining about the late kickoff of the NCAA men’s tournament final between Purdue and Connecticut.
The national championship game is scheduled for 9:20 p.m. ET on Monday, April 8.
THE March Madness The men’s title match begins each year after 9 p.m. ET.
But it didn’t stop basketball fans complaining about the timing of the highly anticipated match.
Many of them rushed to social media to express their shock after realizing the game would continue late Monday night on the East Coast.
“Why the hell is #NCAAChampionship kickoff at 9:20?!!,” one wrote.
“UConn and Purdue start at 9:20pm Eastern? How can the conversation in this room go if they decide that’s a good idea?” another added.
“How to ruin what was a fun and exciting #MarchMadness…starting the #NationalChampionship game at 9:20pm EST. This is stupid,” said a third.
“Anyone who continues to make the decision to start the NCAA “A league game at 9:20pm on a work night should be cancelled,” one wrote.
The men’s March Madness championship clash begins much later than the women’s.
South Carolina and Iowa begin their title fight at 3 p.m. ET Sunday.
The Gamecocks end up beat Caitlin Clark’s Hawkeyes 87-75 to finish the season undefeated.
League matches in other competitions also usually start much earlier.
The 2024 College Football Playoff final was scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET.
And last year’s World Series as well NBA and Stanley Cup Final games were scheduled to start no later than 8:30 p.m. ET.
UCONN GOALS
University of Connecticut will once again contend for the national championship after defeating San Diego State in last year’s title game.
The five-time champions have a chance to become the first men’s team to come back since Florida did it in 2007.
Historically, the Huskies rarely lose once they reach the semifinals.
They enter the game against Purdue with an 11-1 record in Final Four and title games.
Meanwhile, the Boilermakers have yet to win the March Madness crown.
Additionally, Monday’s clash marks the program’s first appearance at the national title in 55 years.
This year, the final four and title competitions will take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
