SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey appears uninterested in discussing the formation of a possible college football super league.
There have been growing rumors that major college football programs are parting ways with SECOND. Concerns about the NCAA Influence, cash payments, NIL and simply being too big to control have motivated some to argue that a breakup is inevitable.
Speculation soared when a document allegedly showing a potential breakdown of a super league has been leaked by Sportico.
The authenticity of the document has not been directly confirmed by any major player in college football, but it sent the media and fans into a frenzy.
NOW, Sankey – someone who is certainly aware – reacted by brushing it all aside.
“Greg Sankey responds to Super League speculation”.
“Whether people have an interest in coming up with ideas is up to them. I spend my time on what I have to do,” Sankey told the media Wednesday after the College Football Playoff spring meetings, according to ESPN.
Well, that certainly doesn’t sound like a man who gives much credence to the idea that the creation of a super league is imminent.
He also refuted the idea that college sports are in trouble, adding to the press: “You can use the cliché: ‘If I were buying stocks, I’d buy stocks in college sports.’ Well, apparently a lot of people believe that outside of college sports, something is going well,” according to the same report.

If Sankey knows something, he clearly has no interest in showing his cards. He made the most conceited comment possible, but without considering the bigger picture. Does he really know nothing or is this a solid move by the SEC Commissioner? Let me know what you think. [email protected]. All I know is that despite Sankey’s comments, I don’t see chatter and talk about the demise of a super league. College sports are in a state of unprecedented fluidity, and people are unlikely to give up on the topic.
