AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn football and head coach Karen Hoppa announced the addition of midfielder Becky Contreras on the program for Friday.
Contreras comes to the Plains after spending the previous four seasons at Kennesaw State University. She will be immediately eligible to start playing with the Tigers for the spring exhibition roster.
“We are excited to have Becky join our team,” Hoppa said. “Her experience in midfield will be a great addition to our attack. She is a box-to-box player, who can make a difference on both sides of the ball. We look forward to integrating her into our midfield this spring.”
At Kennesaw State, Contreras was twice named an All-ASUN performer and won the ASUN Freshman of the Year award following her rookie season in 2019. In 42 career appearances, the Dacula, Ga. native contributed to five goals and scored. eight of them, six of which were winners.
At Dacula High School, Contreras not only led her team to a state championship in 2019, but was also recognized as a four-time Gwinnett County Player of the Year and a two-time Player of the Year of Gwinnett County.
Contreras and Auburn Soccer will return to action in the spring for a series of exhibition games. A schedule will be announced at a later date.
