The Celtics are your 2024 NBA champions.
Boston finished business on its home court, protecting the floor with a decisive 106-88 victory over the Mavericks.
Jayson Tatum did his best in the closing game, posting a near triple-double of 31 points, 11 assists and eight rebounds to finally lead the Celtics over the hump. It was his co-star Jaylen Brown who took home Finals MVP honors, finishing with 21 points, eight rebounds and six assists to win the Bill Russell Trophy.
Boston’s defense kept Luka Doncic (28 points on 25 shots) and Kyrie Irving (15 points on 16 shots) in check, keeping Dallas under 100 points for the fourth time in five games. The result: confetti rained down on the ground of the TD Garden.

10:55 p.m.: Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving withdrew from the game. The Celtics lead 106-85 with 2:12 left.
10:51 p.m.: The Celtics are on the verge of winning their first NBA title since 2008. Joe Mazzulla takes a timeout with 3:10 remaining, Boston leads 106-85.
10:41 p.m.: Jayson Tatum puts this game to rest. Celtics star scored nine points in fourth quarter to give Boston a 102-78 lead with 4:39 left. He totaled 29 points, 11 assists and seven rebounds, three short of a triple-double.

End of third quarter: Celtics 86, Mavericks 67
10:27 p.m.: Three quarters are in the books and Celtics fans at TD Garden are starting to feel it.
Jayson Tatum has 20 points, 10 assists and six rebounds in three quarters while Jaylen Brown has 17 points, six rebounds and five assists.
For Dallas, the struggles of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving continue. Doncic has 18 points on 8-of-19 shooting while Irving has nine points on 3-of-12 shooting.
Boston is 12 minutes from banner No. 18.
10:13 p.m.: The Mavericks are hanging around. Dallas trails Boston 82-64 with 4:05 left in the third. Luka Doncic starts playing more aggressively with five quick points. Josh Green continues to be an X-factor for Dallas, scoring 14 points off the bench on perfect 5-of-5 shooting from the field.
10:03 p.m.: The Celtics keep their foot on the accelerator. 3-point baskets from Derrick White and Al Horford helped extending Boston’s lead to 26, up 78-52 in the first three minutes of the second half.
Halftime: Celtics 67, Mavericks 46
9:45 p.m.: Jayson Tatum shrugged off a slow start to the first quarter, finishing with 16 points, nine assists and no turnovers in the first half. He and Jaylen Brown (15 points) completely dominated Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.
Doncic has nine points, six rebounds and four assists but has found no rhythm as a scorer. Irving has five points and five assists on 2-of-8 shooting from the field, falling into the background as he did in the first two games in Boston.

9:28 p.m.: The Mavericks fought back in this one behind a shake-up from their role players. Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving combined for 10 points on 4-of-14 shooting from the field. The rest of the team has 29 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field. Derrick Jones Jr. is their top scorer with 10 points.
Boston leads Dallas 48-39 with just over four minutes left in the half.

9:17 p.m.: Jayson Tatum comes alive in the second quarter. He already has 11 points, seven assists and four rebounds. He finished one and one to give the Celtics a 46-31 lead with 6:56 left in the half.

8:53 p.m.: Luka Doncic attacked Kristaps Porzingis on both defensive possessions since recording, resulting in consecutive wide-open 3s for Josh Green. Celtics timeout. Boston leads 16-13 with 3:56 left in the first.
8:52 p.m.: Kristaps Porzingis entered the game with 6:49 left in the first quarter. This is his first action since Game 2 of the NBA Finals.

6:30 p.m.: The Celtics reclassified Kristaps Porzingis as “available” for Game 5. Head coach Joe Mazzulla said he “expects to see (Porzingis) tonight” and added that he is not subject to a minute restriction.
A reminder that he was also made available for Boston’s Game 4 loss to the Mavericks, but never stepped foot on the court.
Mazzulla says there is no minutes restriction on Porzingis.
