Thiruvananthapuram: World football champions Argentina have expressed their desire to play in Kerala, Minister of State for Sports V Abdurahiman said.
“We will launch follow-up actions once we receive an official statement from the Argentine authorities,” Abdurahiman told Manorama News.
“We are keeping the All India Football Federation (AIFF) informed of the developments. We believe that raising funds to host Argentina will not be a problem. Argentina’s World Cup triumph has plunged its Malaysian fans in a frenzy. Hosting Argentina is a long-time dream event.
After Argentina’s victory in Qatar 2022, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan visited the Argentine Ambassador in New Delhi after the embassy thanked the Kerala fans for their support. Pinarayi had invited the Argentina national team to Kerala and expressed interest in collaborating with the country.
“The AIFF is ready to help us make the necessary arrangements to host Argentina. We have the necessary facilities to host the world champions,” Abdurahiman added.
