BangShift.com 1960 Thunderbird

I’ve made no secret of my opinions regarding Ford Thunderbirds over the years. I said mean things. I’ve hinted that parking spots next to the Titanic were available, and I’ve generally been negative on the subject…until now. This car may be an exception to my well-established rules, but what an exception! This 1960 “Squarebird” is built with a vintage NASCAR vibe and uses all kinds of good modern parts because the owner wanted to race the Power Tour, drive Route 66, and even run the Sand Hills Open Road Race with it. The Holley boys sent us this link from their blog and told us to check it out. I’m more of a love interest and normally I’m anything but with these cars.

Ford fans will be happy to know that it remains a true Ford from front to back. The engine is a reheated 351 that produces 400 hp with a roller cam, 10:1 compression, and Holley Terminator EFI. The suspension is full RideTech front to rear and includes coilover shocks, a four-link in the rear, and Wilwood brakes when cornering.

We’re not going to reveal everything here. The guys at Level 7 Motorsports are building the car and have provided some great photos. Look at this thing, it rules and this is literally the first time I have said this about a Thunderbird made after 1957. This car makes me question everything about my life….
