NFL+ offers its subscribers two alternative streams for all its live games, starting this weekend, SBJ’s Joe Lemire reports. Produced in partnership with Genius Sports, the new viewing options will leverage Next Gen Stats tracking data and Second Spectrum augmentation. The new alternate castings are the NFL+ Vision Stream, which will apply AI logic to display advanced metrics, and the NFL+ Stats Stream, which will identify talented players and list their scoring statistics.
NFL Media and Genius began collaborating on products last offseason as the league looked to build on last year’s launch of NFL+, a premium package available for mobile devices. While other broadcasters have launched successful alternative broadcasts – ESPN with ManningCast, Amazon with Prime Vision – this is the first produced by the league itself, and it was born from consumer data highlighting the acute fan interest in streaming games.
The C360’s pylon camera technology goes global this NFL season, a first for the immersive video company, SBJ’s Rob Schaefer reports. The international debut of its Line-to-Gain and Goal Line Pylon systems took place during the October 8 game between the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Buffalo Bills at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, and then again during the Baltimore Ravens-Tennessee game Titans on this site last. From six sideline vantage points – two on each goal line and two on each gain line – the C360’s cameras capture 210-degree views of the field, a departure from the more limited vantage points of the past. With a new NBA season dawning next week, Wednesday’s SBJ Live provided a technological overview of the potential data improvements that will accompany it.
