More details about “College Football 25” have hit the web, and it’s a bit of a mixed bag.
The first one college football video game will be released at some point in July, and as I reported earlier in the week, that date is tentatively set for July 19th.
Matte Brown confirmed my report Wednesday, July 19 is the target date at the moment, but it could also change in the coming weeks.
Now there are even more details, and it looks like the transfer portal could be a problem.
“College Football 25” appears to have a very realistic transfer portal.
One of the big questions people have is how the transfer portal will work in the game given that it’s the Wild West in real life. Players are constantly changing schools. Will the same thing be possible in “College Football 25”?
GOOD, EA Sports attempts to find the right balance between realism and fun, according to Brown (via HeartlandCollegeSports.com).
What does this mean exactly? I’m not sure, but I guess EA Sports doesn’t want a situation where a player builds a powerful dynasty at a smaller school and then players transfer to P4 programs every year.
Part of the fun of the game is turning a small school into a national powerhouse. That’s essentially impossible in the NIL era, but EA Sports could make it happen in “College Football 25.” I certainly hope that’s the case, because players definitely don’t want to have to rebuild an entire roster every year. If this is the case, then EA Sports will have failed.
More than anything, fans simply can’t wait for “College Football 25” to get here this summer. It’s been way too long since 2013 when the last game was released.
I’m literally buying a PS5 just to play the game, and I’m not even a fan of video games. College football games are simply an exception.
