Michaella Krajicek is qualified to become the next tennis representative in the SI Swimsuit Issue. The WTA player, whose injuries prevented her from having a much more decorated career, is increasingly active on Instagram and she posts more and more sexy bikini photos.
The half-sister of former world number 4 and Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek reached the 2007 Wimbledon quarter-finals and a career-high singles ranking of 30th in February 2008, but injuries and surgeries l have prevented her from taking a break and she is currently a rare subject in the world of tennis. Her WTA profile indicates that she played in one ITF singles tournament in 2019, losing in the first qualifying round, and four doubles tournaments, including one at the WTA level, the Libema Open in her home country of the Netherlands .
While her tennis is on the sidelines, Krajicek, 31, uses social media to update us on her life and show us that she is more beautiful than ever.
In 2017, after two years of marriageKrajicek divorced her longtime partner Martin Emmrich, who had who famously married him in front of the crowd at the 2014 Topshelf Open in s’-Hertogenbosch. Her ex-husband quickly remarried (he married former WTA top 200 player Tamaryn Hendler), while Krajicek continued to live in their Prague apartment and revealed in an interview: “Ironically , now I have a daycare at home, but he has another girlfriend to whom he is engaged and with whom he is now expecting a child.
Luckily, Michaella wasn’t unlucky in love for too long. Now she’s flourishing Jelle Salts, a 24-year-old Dutch tennis player currently ranked No. 378 on the ATP Tour. His career-best ranking was No. 260 in December 2018.
Nowadays, Krajicek enjoys painting and even auctioning some of her works, but she will still struggle with many “what ifs” when thinking about her tennis career. Here is his quote from an interview in 2016:
I have to say that when I look back on my career, I usually get quite emotional. What if I had had better health? And sometimes I ask myself questions like: could I have prevented it? With my knee, I couldn’t have done it because I was born with a bigger meniscus. So they should have had surgery anyway, but it came off on its own when I was playing.
In addition to painting, Michaella enjoys spending time on the beach and is now challenge her WTA colleague, Sloane Stephens, in the bikini photo category.
Maybe someone from the SI Swimsuit Issue will take note and invite the Dutch girl to be featured in the next issue? So far we have had Eugenie Bouchard, Sloane Stephens, Ana Ivanovic, Caroline Wozniacki, Serena WilliamsMaria Sharapova and other WTA stars during the famous annual photo shoot of the American magazine Sports Illustrated.
