A few months ago we got together to discuss the things that pissed us off the most on the state of American football. Dozens of you chimed in to discuss the thing that bothered you most about our game, whether it was the USMNT, USWNT, youth development, our lack of coach or even national leagues. Well, a few months have passed. There were players who moved within the UNITED STATES or abroad in different clubs. We’ve seen some expansion teams announced in MLS and USL, while others may be on the verge of moving or not returning. We’ve seen an increased focus on national youth teams and their progress, while people in football bars watch European leagues while debating which young players should be next to go abroad.
So we wanted to come back to this subject: what bothers you the most in American football at the moment? However, now we want to see if your problem from a few months ago has improved or worsened. Do you see US Soccer progressing in an area that concerns you, or has nothing changed? Do you have reason to hope that American soccer is starting to move in the right direction, or are we just watching the paint dry?
Once we answer this question, we move on to the solutions phase. How do you solve your problem? What should US Soccer, MLS or USL do to improve your most hated situation? Think realistically. If it’s something that will take time to resolve, don’t suggest something immediately. If it requires wide movements, do not suggest using a scalpel. We want to motivate everyone to think about what American football can do to truly change and make football better in this country. Each month we’ll revisit this topic to see if things have changed for you and we can see if American soccer is truly heading toward a brighter future or stagnating in the filth of yesterday.
Let’s get started… what is your problem with American football? What can be done to fix it? Hit the comments and let us know.
