Three international basketball prospects – Nikola Topic, Ulrich Chomche and Pacome Dadiet – declared for the 2024 NBA Draft on Monday. While the topic was expected, the other two were interesting decisions.
The most high-profile and least surprising player to declare was Topic, who, as of right now, is probably in the top five.
At 6-foot-6, Topic wowed in the Adriatic League, averaging 18.4 points and 7.1 rebounds while shooting 46% overall in 12 games for Mega MIS. He eventually joined Red Star of the EuroLeague, but played sparingly in two matches before suffering a knee injury that has kept him sidelined ever since.
Despite this, Topic’s size combined with his obvious feel for the game will likely see him as one of the best point guards taken out of the 2024 draft.
Chomche, a 6-foot-11 forward from Cameroon who played for the NBA Academy over the past year, is an extremely intriguing prospect. Among the pool of available players, Chomche is the youngest at just 18 and a half years old on draft night.
He’s a bouncy combo forward who can make plays around the rim, but also has a decent outside shot. Although he is relatively unknown at present, there are rumors that he could be coveted in 2024. If he does not choose to keep his name in the draft, he could sign with any number professional or university teams.
Frenchman Dadiet has also registered his name for 2024. A 6-foot-8 winger, Dadiet impresses with his size, feel for the game and shooting. In 22 games with the Paris U21 team, he scored 17.3 points, grabbed 5.2 rebounds and distributed 1.7 assists.
The trio of players now makes for an already interesting 2024 NBA Draft, even more so.
