Recently interviewed by Golf Week If he’s interested in participating in LIV, Dunlap said, “Right now I have no idea, I really don’t.”
Dunlap explained, much like Rory McIlroy did it after his fourth victory at Dubai Desert Classicthat he grew up watching Tiger Woods and wants to emulate the iconic golfer.
“I don’t know if that’s arrogant or not,” he said.
He explained: “I always grew up dreaming of playing on the PGA Tour and sinking a putt like not long ago to win a PGA Tour event.
“It’s always been my dream to do this. I’ve always tried to pursue something that no one else has done.
“That’s why I always do the work that I do, I want to do something special and something memorable, not just for me, but maybe leave something behind so that someone else can try to follow and evaluate it.
He continued: “For me, it’s Tiger, RIGHT. Like I’ll probably never be close to some of the records that he set, but I’m still trying to set, you know, trying to chase him.
“I know that’s an extremely high bar, and I don’t know if that sounds really arrogant or not, but to me it’s something, I consider him the greatest of all time, and to me , I’m trying to pursue that, and even be in some sort of conversation with him, like I said, it’s a dream come true, and that’s why I do what I do.
LIV’s third campaign begins in Mexico on February 2.
