Basketball fans should prepare for a busy summer.
Once the dust settles from the NBA Finals and NBA Draft, attention will quickly shift to the Paris Olympics. In 2024, the Olympic Games will feature men’s and women’s 3×3 and 5×5 basketball tournaments for the second time.
The 5×5 men’s basketball tournament will be headlined by the four-time defending champion United States Men’s National Team, the Australian Boomers, Team Canada and host nation France, which could see phenomenon Victor Wembanyama take the floor for his Olympic debut.
With eight of the 12 Olympic basketball tournament spots claimed, the next step is knowing which groups each known team will compete in. The Sporting News is following live updates from the March 19 Olympic basketball draw, a major step for each team to determine their path to medal in Paris.
