So, in case you haven’t noticed, Taylor Swift posted a new song last week, and it’s, uh, something. College football fans might be familiar with the song this weekend…and maybe over the next four months.
ESPN promoted Saturday’s epic season-opening game between Alabama and Florida State with Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do.” This is a real advertisement that has been broadcast on television in recent days.
From now on, ESPN’s music plans for the season involve “Walk on Water” from Thirty Seconds to Mars.
But at the very least, “Look What You Made Me Do” appears to be the song that will liven up Saturday night’s game, and college football fans are already taking notice.
This is not a good start.
It’s been three years and I still haven’t completely gotten Fall Out Boy’s “Centuries” out of my head after ESPN played the song multiple times during the 2014 season. It was so over the top that the band actually apologized for this.
There is, however, a simple solution. Just bring back the band’s music promos. It was great.
