A harmless joke or really an insult?
A recent comment made by THE SSERAFIMIt is Yunjin regarding a football player Messi attracted some negative attention from Korean netizens.
On February 12, an account on the fan communications platform Weverse posted: “If you comment I will stop playing football.“The commenter’s profile picture and display name were both that of Messi, implying that the OP (original poster) was jokingly impersonating the legendary football player.
Yunjin commented on the post saying, “Eyy, I should have responded a few months ago.» And this same comment irritated many. Yunjin’s mention of “a few months earlier” implied she was referring to Argentina’s World Cup victory under Messi.
The assumption that Yunjin was dissatisfied with the victory did not sit well with many, while some netizens pointed out that her tone was obviously not serious.
- “He’s an all-time legendary player all over the world ㅋㅋㅋ seriously she’s lost her mind.”
- “She deserved the hatred of foreign football fansㅋㅋ.”
- “What was she thinking when she commented that???”
- “Fuck, I’m a Messi fan, and Huh Yunjin was nice to me, but I fucking take it back.”
- “That aside, she deleted her comment after receiving hate from her fans overseas.”
- “Huh, isn’t this just a joke…?” Why is everyone so mad?
- “If someone with Huh Yunjin’s profile picture said I would retire as a singer if you commented, would that make you feel better?”
Since the issue broke out, Yunjin appears to have deleted his comment from the Weverse post.
