Congress recognized the seriousness of COPD and called for a global effort to combat it. In response, the NHLBI hosted COPD workshops, meetings and a two-day town hall to help inform and develop the national action plan. The plan was published in 2017, but it is a living document that continues to evolve.
At every stage, the development of the National Action Plan has been a collaborative effort. Federal and non-federal partners, patients and their families, health care providers, academia, and industry have all played important roles in its creation and refinement.
Thanks to the National Action Plan, communities across the country now have a unified framework that they can adapt to guide their own efforts against COPD. The National Action Plan also provides opportunities for collaboration to turn policy into action. Together we have a lasting impact.
Together we have a lasting impact, and we track our progress as we go.
