The topic of court storming has been a major topic to follow among members of the college basketball community over the past few weeks, with sports figures, players, coaches and more .
Kansas Guard Nick Timberlake was the most recent person to voice his opinion during a Monday press conference, during which he supported the notion of a security assault on the field.
According to a report from Michael Swain of Kansas247, Timberlake doesn’t want court storming to be taken out of college basketball. He then mentioned that Kansas players understand that they need to be on the sidelines near the end of a game because a storm on the field could happen at any time.
Court assault has been a major talking point during the 2023-24 season, with stars like Iowa’s Caitlin Clark and Duke’s Kyle Filipowski getting hit by opposing fans sprinting onto the court. Filipowski tweeted a cryptic message after colliding with a Wake Forrest fan following an upset loss, saying, “This needs to change.”
THE Rob Dauster Estate from the 68s discussed a possible solution to resolving dangerous on-court assaults on social media, saying, “Start a shot clock as soon as a game becomes final. Give the visiting team 30 seconds to leave the field and go down the tunnel. You get a countdown and give the home team and home fans a chance to storm the pitch.
Timberlake and the Jayhawks will face another opportunity to storm the field against BYU on Tuesday, February 27 at 7:00 p.m. CT on ESPN+.
