Sid Seixeiro, a Canadian Breakfast Television broadcaster, took the time during a segment to discuss the recent reaction to Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov’s refusal to wear an LGBTQ+ themed Pride jersey , to verbally attack the Russian Orthodox player as well as religious individuals who do not do so. Don’t bend the knee to the LGBTQ+ agenda.

The situation arose earlier this week when the press noticed that unlike other members of the team, Provorov was not wearing the Pride Night warm-up jersey emblazoned with the LGBTQ+ rainbow. The hockey player cited his traditional Russian Orthodox beliefs as a reason to refrain from adopting a lifestyle contradictory to his faith.

“I respect everyone. I respect everyone’s choices,” Provorov said. “My choice is to remain true to myself and my religion. »

Provorov received public support for his choice not to participate from Flyers head coach John Tortorella.

“With Provy (Provorov), he is true to himself and his religion,” Tortorella said when asked by the media about the situation. “It has to do with his belief and religion. That’s one thing I respect about Provy is that he’s always true to himself.

During the on-air segment discussing the Pride Night controversy, Seixeiro began ranting and even saying that the NHL should impose punitive measures on the Philadelphia Flyers as a whole for violating people’s “rights.” LGBTQ+.

“John Tortorella, many years ago when racial injustice – and it still is today – when Colin Kaepernick started kneeling during the national anthems, said that anyone who would do that in my team was going to sit down. And he has a son who is an Army Ranger. So it’s not like Tortorella hasn’t spoken out on sensitive issues in the past,” Seixeiro said.

“The theme of the National Hockey League is ‘Hockey is for everyone,’ right,” he continued. “The theme isn’t, ‘Hockey is for everyone…unless you don’t believe in gay rights, then do what you want.’ If the National Hockey League is going to do this, if any league is going to do this, do it right or re-evaluate what you’re doing, because I don’t see much of an impact in any league.

From there, Seixeiro made the situation worse by stating that the NHL should directly target Provorov to make an example of him.

“I think you fine the Flyers a million dollars for this. I am not joking. Understand that and stop offending people on nights when it’s not about that. This is supposed to be about inclusiveness. The National Hockey League needs to attack this and understand, because what I heard last night was offensive and made no sense,” he said.

After attempting to compare LGBTQ+ pride nights to military appreciation nights, Sexeiro said, “I just think the NHL needs to do something here. This is not good enough. This is not good enough. “Hockey is for everyone…unless you don’t agree with gay rights” is not how that phrase is phrased. Either you’re in it or you’re not.

But he didn’t stop there, he then turned his contempt towards religious people and apparently Christians as a whole.

“Nothing scares me more than any human being who says, ‘I’m not doing this because of my religious beliefs,’ because when you look at the lives of people who normally say that publicly, you vomit because of what we see. You would vomit at what you saw. And I’ve seen this a million times in different ways. So don’t give me that, with respect, don’t give me that, because no one is perfect. Don’t get me started on religious beliefs, and all of a sudden the NHL is going to go backwards,” he said.

Sexeiro then reiterated his call to fine the Flyers organization: “The NHL must today fine this organization $1 million and re-evaluate how they support gay rights because it It’s insulting. It’s the number one news story in Canada. It’s insulting what happened in Philadelphia.

And if the NHL is serious about this – they claim to be – we’ll see how serious they are today. But all this was poorly managed. Part of me couldn’t believe it, part of me could considering the way the NHL handles things sometimes,” he concluded.
