MLB Network adds another asset to its bullpen, as the network announced that Adam Wainwright will contribute as an on-air analyst to all of its programming. Wainwright retired at the end of last season, immediately made his way into the media space and has now found his way to MLB Network.
“I am very excited to join MLB Network’s All-Star cast for the 2024 baseball season,” Wainwright said. “I love baseball and the art of pitching. I hope I can bring some expertise and real-life experience to those watching at home.
Wainwright will be pulling double duty this baseball season. He will contribute to MLB Network as an analyst for all of its programming while also calling games for FOX. In January, Wainwright agreed call a “full slate” of regular season and postseason games during the 2024 season.
“Adam is a proven champion on and off the field, who has time and time again excelled at his craft while remaining dedicated to helping others,” said MLB Network President Bill Morningstar. “He always added something to our shows when he joined us as a guest, from the way he took on hitters to showcasing the lighter side of the game. As we prepare for a new season, Adam is a welcome addition to the MLB Network family, which will only help bring our viewers closer to the game.”
Wainwright will join former Cardinals teammate Mark DeRosa, as well as former All-Stars Yonder Alonso, Alex Avila, Jake Peavy, Albert Pujols and Chris Young as MLB Network analysts. Wainwright was drafted 29th overall in the June 2000 MLB amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves before joining the Cardinals for the entirety of his 18-year MLB career.
“Adam is a perfect example of everything that is good about this game,” DeRosa said. “Whether it’s pitching in the biggest moments of the game or impacting lives off the field, he’s one of the great guys our sport has to offer. The MLB Network just got a lot better today.
