Things didn’t go well on the first signing day between five-star wide receiver Dallas Wilson and Florida. Alligatorsbut the Oregon commit is after all looking to free himself from his financial aid deal to sign with the Orange and Blue.
Wilson Leadership Group told On3 that the Tampa Bay Tech prospect requested Tuesday to be released from his financial affidavit, giving Oregon until Thursday to decide. Once the Ducks grant Wilson’s request, he will be free to sign wherever he pleases, and that’s with Florida.
If all of these dominoes fall into place, Wilson will be on campus in Gainesville early alongside DJ Lagway, Eugene Wilson III and Vernell Brown III to lead Florida’s passing game in 2025. Florida also returns several other receivers but has question marks behind Eugene Wilson with Elijhah. Badger and Chimere Dike out of eligibility.
Dallas Wilson provides a classic high-threat receiver that Florida has been looking for since Joshua Moore canceled his commitment to Miami earlier in the cycle. It also eases fans’ concerns after Florida remained quiet during the first weeks of the winter transfer window.
The recruiting saga is reminiscent of what happened with Jaden Rashada, who ultimately gave up his national letter of intent with Florida well after the early signing period. Of course, it’s much nicer to be on the other end of that kind of decision.
Recruitment summary
Wilson is a five-star recruit, according to the two major composite rankings from 247Sports and On3. The 247Sports composite places him at No. 20 overall and No. 4 among receivers in the 2025 class, while the On3 industry rankings rank him slightly higher at No. 19 and 2, respectively.
“A strong wide receiver with the size, hands and speed to emerge as a true impact player for a College Football Playoff contender,” 247Sports director of scouting Andrew Ivins wrote in a August report. “Gets out of his stance and attacks the pad with conviction before breaking defensive backs with sharp cuts. Firm 10-inch hands and a 6-foot-3, 205-pound frame give him the advantage more often than not in the capture point and has featured some acrobatics over the years…
“Overall, he should be considered one of the best pass catchers in the 2025 cycle given his big-play abilities and rare physical attributes. He should embrace the process at the college of his choice and move on to develop as a player, but he has NFL potential.
The addition of Wilson puts Florida in the top 10 in 247Sports’ team recruiting rankings, edging out Tennessee by a few points. Both teams could add more players at the February signing date, but Florida has a good chance of finishing in the top 10 with Wilson in the fold.
