5 pivotal questions (and predictions) for AFC key teams

New England Patriots: How will they surround Drake Maye with a support system?

New England has an absurd space of almost $ 120 million at the moment and has a draft choice of the first five. There is no shortage of resources to strengthen the surrounding talent in a trailer with its new Franchise quarter.

The problem is that the list has a lot of needs. And although we are mainly concentrated on the offense in this space, I strongly doubt that Mike Truebel intends to ignore a defense that ranked 30th in EPA per game authorized last season. The entire bushel of resources will not be spent on the offensive side of the ball.

New England will not have to go completely “one or the other” with its broken offensive line and its large body of receivers. However, he will have to choose one rather than the others with regard to the amount of additions.

PREDICTION: Patriots spend more from their free agency budget on the offensive line. It is easier to build in trenches via clever free agent additions than a viable receiver. It also helps the racing game, which will cause a positive cascade effect throughout the offense. This means that New England will have to hope that better coach staff will be able to draw more from its young players than the last group, which is a low bar to erase.

Jacksonville Jaguars: How many of the previous “playmakers” of the Jaguars’ era?

Christian Kirk and Evan Engram are the two highest charges on books and have no more money guaranteed on their offers. The jaguars do not hurt for the CAP space, but if Coen does not consider them as adjustments for what they want from these positions, they would be contracts that are easy to move. Engram is a hyper specific player who does not project well for some of the blocking needs of the tight ends of this offense.

There is also the question of runners. Coen has no attachment to the Backfield duo of Tank Bigsby and Travis Etienne Jr. This list has too many other needs to add a third significant option to the ball carrier.

PREDICTION: One or the two engrams and Kirk are not on this list, the first being more likely to be cut. Expect an addition of a sleight of hand from a certain meaning. If the Brain Trust can reorganize the interior offensive line, one of the Bigsby or Etienne is a fantastic value in 2025.

Denver Broncos: What game leaders will they add and what positions will they play?

Broncos are in an enviable position during the offseason. They have a lot of answers to premium positions – the quarter -back, the upper corner, the rush to the pass and the protection of the passes are in good condition. They will have to plan the future on the two lines, but a current hole is in 2025. Courtland Sutton might need a new agreement, but if he is part of the team, the receiver n ° 1 will be taken in charge.

This leaves a lot of room for the broncos to add to the support casting in attack and they have almost empty slates on the back and tight final positions. Even an addition of a receiver to a certain level is justified to accompany Sutton and some of the hyper -specific role players who flashed in 2024. With the strength of this draft class which should be on the back and instead tight, Denver could take His shot in early April.

Sean Payton designed and called a solid operation in attack last year and Bo Nix looks like a quarter-back response. We care about who they land in these positions.

PREDICTION: Denver adds two players whom we are considering strongly in fantastic projects next season. I am not stupid enough to give specific names, even if I try to manifest the Ashton Jeanty marriage, but that the broncos have made a good line with this inbound class.

Pittsburgh Steelers: what is the following Quarterrière plan?

For another offseason, Pittsburgh will be haunted by questions concerning the most important position in sport. As usual, it is not in an ideal place to solve the problem.

I buy the rhetoric leaving the team they bring back one of the Russell Wilson or Justin Fields, but not both. With the way the offensive sprayed the finish line, I don’t think you can sell Wilson as a multi -year response. I am not the largest funder like the others in the media space, but at least you can make the “unexploited” argument. If you bring the fields as a starter, then surrounding it better options to the wide receiver and a more explosive running mate is non -negotiable.

I would be interested in the fields as a sleeper QB1 if it happens.

One of these guys is unlikely to be a long -term response, but these types of passers -by do not just grow on the trees. Unless a massive exchange of the commission project or an acquisition of Matthew Stafford in a trade, they do not have a clear path to a multi -year upgrade. It is a delicate position to do.

PREDICTION: Steelers bring back fields and add another veteran. They do not take my recommended path to make skill positions an overwhelming force. The 2025 Steelers end up feeling too close to the versions of the previous seasons.

Los Angeles Chargers: What players in a skill position do they add?

Ladd McConkey is the only competence position that I am ready to write in Pen for Los Angeles 2025 charges.

At the ball carrier, JK Dobbins is a free agent and Gus Edwards is a cup candidate. We could see the charges plunge into a deep draft class at the post. As long as they also add on the interior offensive line, this player would quickly become an attractive fantastic option. Dobbins makes sense as a return option, despite everything.

McConkey can play outside. It is a level 1 talent at the post. It has a set of skills with multiple facets. All this is true, but the team still needs much more around him. The Quentin Johnston so unhappy is not a completely desperate player – they can get away with their WR3 – but it would work best in a small volume support role. Likewise, will be deterred can Work like their tight end and is a more blocker, but should aim higher.

PREDICTION: Dobbins returns to the team but is rejected by a recruit. Despite the addition of a target option of more than 100 years to the passage game, McConkey is still a WR1 next season.

Go here for my 5 NFC team forecasts.
