49ers practice report: Kittle, Ward out with injuries originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
THE 49ers received more bad news on the injury front Thursday, as tight end Georges Kittle and cornerback Charvarius district both were decommissioned in Santa Clara.
In addition to the wide receiver Deebo Samuelwho is should miss “a few weeks” Due to a calf strain, Kittle did not practice as he has a hamstring injury and Ward was sidelined with hamstring and knee issues.
#49ers added to injury report:
DO NOT PRACTICE 9/19
TE George Kittle (hamstring)
CB Charvarius Ward (hamstring/knee)
WR Deebo Samuel (veal)— Jennifer Lee Chan – thread @jenniferleechan (@jenniferleechan) September 19, 2024
THE The 49ers were already without Samuel and the star running backwards Christian McCaffreywho was placed on injured reserve last weekend with a calf injury and Achilles tendonitisahead of their week 3 game against the The Los Angeles Rams Sunday at SoFi Stadium. And now the status of two other key players is in question for the NFC West clash.
The Rams, however, face some bad luck of their own, as a plethora of their holders will not play in Sunday’s game, including injured receivers Puka Nacua And Cooper Kupp.
San Francisco expects to have an All-Pro safety Talanoa Hufanga back on the ground in Southern California, however, as he makes his debut in the season after suffering a torn ACL during the 2023 campaign. If Ward can’t go, Hufanga’s presence in the secondary will be welcome.
And if Kittle’s hamstring injury keeps him out Sunday, the onus will fall on the receivers. Brandon Aiyuk And Jauan Jennings to progress in the passing game like Eric Saubert replaced for the people’s tight end position.
