49ers practice report: Deebo returns, Robinson out originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area
SANTA CLARA — The 49ers returned three players to the field Thursday, but they might have suffered another loss before full practice even began.
Backup linebacker Curtis Robinson, who could have played a bigger role in the 49ers’ defense, was carted off the field at the start of the team’s practice.
There has been no initial word on the details of the injury. The 49ers will release their daily injury report after practice.
Robinson has been a key special teams player for the 49ers and was a candidate for a larger role in the team’s struggling defense.
Meanwhile, wide receiver Deebo Samuel, left tackle Trent Williams and linebacker Dee Winters returned for at least limited practice Thursday after missing the team’s on-field work a day earlier.
Tight end George Kittle, who was inactive for the 49ers Week 3 game against the Los Angeles Rams due to a hamstring injury, was back on the training field for a second consecutive day. He was limited in practice on Wednesday.
Samuel missed the 49ers’ game against the Rams with a calf injury. He didn’t practice Wednesday, but was seen running routes at near full speed Thursday.
Williams did not practice Wednesday due to illness.
Winters was back on the field after injuring his ankle Sunday in Los Angeles. The 49ers expect Winters to get more playing time as veteran linebacker De’Vondre Campbell struggles in pass coverage.
Defensive tackle Javon Hargrove suffered a torn triceps in the team’s Week 3 loss and is expected to be placed on season-ending injured reserve Saturday.
