Bold predictions for the Washington Commanders as they go in search of a valuable road victory against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 10.
The NFL is a weekly league. There was a lot of pessimism among Washington Commanders fans after their second loss to the Philadelphia Eagleswhich was replaced by a glimmer of hope after Ron Rivera’s men dug deep to gain victory to the New England Patriots last time.
Of course, that won’t count for anything if the Commanders can’t get the job done on their tough trip against the Seattle Seahawks. Aside from a hammering received from the Baltimore Ravens, Pete Carroll’s men have impressed considerably in 2023.
They also play in one of the fiercest atmospheres in the league. This poses a different test for Commanders and quarterback Sam Howell, who will look to solidify his claims as the long-term response of the team under the center with another polished performance against a team that seems destined for the playoffs.
With that in mind, here are three bold predictions from the commanders at Lumen Field in Week 10.
Geno Smith has come of age over the past two seasons, but the quarterback is likely to make a mistake or two if the defense in front of him plays disciplined football. It all starts with defining the edge, applying pressure from the inside and keeping the signal-caller in the pocket.
This is when the Pro Bowler is prone to mistakes. The Commanders defense has improved its coverage and takeaways this season, although getting into the opposing backfield will be more difficult without the defensive duo of Ride Sweat and Chase Young.
If the commanders can win the turnover battle, they will have a chance. But they can’t let Smith dictate procedures by going out there and making things happen.
