It is officially Ryder Cup week.
Nothing puts the world of golf exposed like this event. It is rich in history, the ceremonial, elegance and at the same time a fierce intensity. It is alone in relation to all that golf can offer.
While the action was to start at Bethpage Black, the American team clearly seeks to defend the lawn at home, which they have been able to do for a long time. The Ryder Cup has somehow became a predictable event with regard to the victory of the team at home, but that did not prevent Europeans from believing that they can end this race.
Tuesday morning, the European team published a video noting how an outside victory would mean for them. Even if you root the Americans, I know that I am, you must admit that it is epic.
The last time an outside team won a Ryder Cup, it was when the Europeans themselves did in Medinah in 2012. As this video does an incredible job to note that there are 37 individual European players who were part of the outside victories in the history of the Ryder Cup, a list he is looking to grow this week in New York.
An American victory this week would obviously not be considered an outside victory, but the United States will have a change to win a road victory for the first time since 1993, when the tournament goes to Adare Manor.
The Americans hope that, as Europeans are now, they defend champions at that time.
