The NBA playoffs tend to follow the chalk most years – the favorites win series after series. There are few surprises.

This year, it looks like it should be different – the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs looks set for an upset. While each conference has a clear favorite to advance, both also have powerful teams that come out of play-ins and pose a threat to reach the Finals (like the Heat did a season ago). However, during the first matches, the field and the favorites held.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 2024 NBA Playoffs, with full matchups and schedules, which will be updated as the scores come in – check back for all the results.

When do the NBA Playoffs start?

The play-in – the NBA version of the Wild Card round – ends Friday evening, April 19, with two games (Chicago at Miami, Sacramento at New Orleans).

The NBA playoffs begin on Saturday, April 20, with four games. The two teams that win Friday night will have to turn around and fly to Boston (East) or Oklahoma City (West) and begin the playoffs less than 48 hours later.

When do the NBA Finals start?

The NBA Finals will begin on June 6, with the first game in the arena of the team with the best regular season record (Boston has the best overall record in the league and would have a home court against anyone finally).

The remainder of the NBA Finals games are: Game 2 on June 9, Game 3 on June 12, Game 4 on June 14, Game 5 on June 17, Game 6 on June 20, and Game 7 on June 23 (Games 5 through 7 are if necessary).
