New York – The head of freedom is officially back.

The star striker Breanna Stewart was signed with The Liberty, the team announced on Saturday. The agreement solidifies the main players of Sandy Brondello for weeks before the Liberty begins its quest for consecutive WNBA titles.

The contract is a guaranteed one year agreement, $ 208,400, according to Madeline Kenney of New York Post.

“Bringing Stewie back to Liberty was our absolute priority this offseason,” said Managing Director Jonathan Kolb in a statement. “Its impact on and off the field is immeasurable – it is not only one of the best players and the most accomplished in the world, but of a leader whose relentless motivation is fundamental to the norm on which we continue to build in New York.”

Stewart’s re-signing with Liberty was the last major off-season transaction that remains for Kolb. There was no concern that Stewart was moving away from the Big Apple, given his aforementioned will to stay in the large market alongside the Sabrina Ionescu and Jonquet Jones stars.

In addition, the Liberty had placed a basic designation, which operates similarly to the NFL franchise label, on it in January.

Now, the star is back for a third season in Brooklyn after having made an average of 21.8 points and 8.9 rebounds per game, alongside 3.7 assists, 1.6 interceptions and 1.4 blocks in her first 78 games with The Liberty.

Stewart will join the new teammate Natasha Cloud, which the front office has acquired via trade this month to fill the vacuum left with the departure of Courtney Vandersloot to the Ciel de Chicago.

And Marine Johannes is back with Liberty this summer after missing all season WNBA 2024.

Kolb’s off -season movements maintain freedom among the best levels in the WNBA ranking while the franchise seeks to add another championship after finally obtaining the first in the history of the franchise in October.

The news of a new agreement comes two weeks after sources told the New York Daily News that Stewart had undergone a successful minor scope on his right meniscus. The star is expected on the camp for the training camp, which begins on April 27 by sources.

The procedure took place a few days after finishing the inaugural season of concern, the winter league 3 against 3 which it co -founded with the star of Minnesota Lynx Napessa Collier. Stewart appeared in the 14 fog games while making an average of 19.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

Liberty will start her home season on May 17 against Las Vegas Aces.
