While the “one and done” discussion seems like the sexiest topic, nothing has changed the landscape of college basketball more than transfers.
This has been around for as long as the sport has existed, but transfers have now taken over the offseason like never before. I mean, the Final Four hasn’t even started yet and already over 300 Division I basketball players have decided to leave and move on.
Besides, I am not personally against this. What these young men do is their business, and they have every right to do what is best for them. It’s a real hassle for coaches trying to retain their outgoing players, but I also don’t hear them complaining when they sign a quality player to another team.
The impact of transfers, whether graduate transfers or players sitting out a year, was once again felt throughout this season. Even every Final Four team has a key player who started with another team.
Among the more than 700 players eligible to play this season after playing somewhere, there have been some hits and misses. But for teams that have had success in the transfer market, it’s sent them to the NCAA Tournament and beyond.
Here’s a look at the top 10 transfers that made an impact this season.
