FC Barcelona’s impressive run in La Liga continued on Wednesday after a 1-0 win over Getafe took their tally to seven wins from seven.

The Blaugrana are not lacking confidence for the 2024/25 season as new manager Hansi Flick has his squad fit and in form despite numerous injuries.
Against a formidable Getafe side, the Catalans had to put together a makeshift team with Eric Garcia, Pablo Torre and Marc Casadรณ at the forefront of midfield, but it had no effect on the hosts. Barcelona dominated the pitch with 80% possession, while the visitors were forced to chase.
Robert Lewandowski proved that age is just a number by scoring the winner after goalkeeper David Soria fouled Jules Kounde’s cross. The Polish forward has now scored seven goals in as many La Liga games.
Nothing really tested Getafe early in the second half, with Lamine Yamal looking to get his name on the scoresheet, but the young Spaniard made Soria dive to save with his fingertips.
With the match still to be concluded, both teams had to face many difficulties. It took 12 fouls and 70 minutes before the first yellow card was issued, as the match became increasingly unstable.
With Getafe failing to get a single shot on target and often having seven or eight players in their box, Soria was the man who ensured they stayed in the game.
Raphinha’s free-kick forced the keeper into a diving save to his right before Yamal’s next half-volley effort hit the crossbar and Raphinha missed an open goal.
The final minutes saw some waves of attack for Getafe, but it was too little, too late for the winless club, who are 19th in the standings.
